Drive-Thru Flu Clinics
DRIVE-THRU FLU SHOTS OFFERED COUNTYWIDE 2017 / DRUG TAKE BACK
The Coffey County Health Department (CCHD) is gearing up for its Annual Drive-Thru Influenza Vaccination Clinics in Coffey County. The Drive Thru Clinics are scheduled as follows:
New Strawn – October 4th at Fire Station #8 – New Strawn 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Consent Forms can be obtained at the following locations: Casey’s General Store, New Strawn Branch Library, City Hall.
Burlington – October 6th at the Coffey County Hospital Ambulance Bay from 10 am to 1:00 pm. Consent Forms can be obtained at the Burlington Branch Library, Recreation Center, Hoovers, and the Senior Center.;
Waverly – October 9th at Fire Station #7 – Waverly from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Consent Forms can be obtained at Waverly Branch Library and City Hall.
Lebo – October 11th at the Fire Station #6 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Consent Forms will be available at City Hall, Lebo Branch Library, Lebo Lumber, and Dollar General.
Leroy – October 16th at Fire Station #5 – Leroy from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Consent Forms will be available at the Leroy Branch Library and City Hall.
Gridley – October 18th at Fire Station #4 - Gridley from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Consent Forms can be obtained at the following locations: Gridley Branch Library, Rodger’s Oil Company.
Burlington- October 23rd from 5:30 pm- 6:30 pm at Fire Station #3 New Evening Clinic!
The Drive Thru Vaccination Clinics are supported by the following agencies / departments:
- Coffey County Emergency Medical Services
- Coffey County Hospital
- Coffey County Sheriff’s Department
- Coffey County Emergency Management
- Coffey County Fire District #1 – Volunteers from each of the Fire Stations
- Coffey County Commissioners
- Burlington Police Department
- Personnel from each of the Cities

The cost of the Influenza Vaccine is as follows:
$30 for injection – 6 months to 35 months
$30 for injection – 6 months and older
High Dose $60 – Only available for 65 years and older
The following insurance cards will be honored at the Vaccination Clinic: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Preferred Health, Medicare, and Kancare. THE INSURANCE CARD MUST BE PRESENTED AT THE INFLUENZA CLINIC for the Insurance Companies to be accurately billed.
Influenza viruses are always changing, so each year a new seasonal influenza vaccine is formulated. The influenza viruses used in creating the seasonal vaccines are chosen each year based on information collected over the previous year about which influenza viruses are spreading and what vaccine would offer the best protection against circulating influenza viruses.
The following target groups should receive the influenza vaccine:
The following medical conditions that put people at a higher risk for getting influenza:
Asthma, Chronic lung disease (such as COPD, cystic fibrosis), Heart disease
All people six (6) months of age and older.
Persons who live with or provide care for infants less than 6 months of age, including parents, siblings, and daycare workers
Close contacts (parents, siblings, grandparents, cousins etc.) of people with medical conditions at a higher risk for getting influenza.
It takes about 2 weeks after vaccination for antibodies to provide protection against Influenza Virus infection.
Pneumonia vaccine shots will be available upon request.
Coffey County Health Department will be closed the entire day on October 7th in order to conduct the Drive Thru Vaccination Clinic.
Influenza Vaccine will be available after the Drive-Thru Clinics at the Coffey County Health Department Office M-W-F from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm while supplies of influenza vaccine last.
In addition to the Drive-Thru Influenza Vaccination Clinics there will be Drug Take Back boxes at each of the Drive Thru Clinics so the public can drop off UNUSED OR EXPIRED MEDICATIONS. The Drug Take Back Boxes are sponsored by Coffey County Sheriff’s Office and Burlington Police Department.
