Abbreviated APPC. A set of protocols developed by IBM as a part of its SNA (Systems Network Architecture), designed to allow applications running on PCs and mid-range hosts to exchange data easily and directly with mainframes. APPC can be used over an SNA, Ethernet, X.25, or Token Ring network and is an open, published communications protocol.
APPC/PC is a PC-based version of APPC used over a Token Ring network.
