With rural charm and family-friendly communities, over 8,400 people call Coffey County home. Founded in 1855, Coffey County is easily accessed via I-35 and US-75 highways. Burlington, the county seat, is just 16 miles south of Beto Junction (the intersection of I-35 and US-75) and an hour south of Topeka. Coffey County is known for its excellent roads, community parks, superior fishing lakes, top-notch schools, recreation center (free for Burlington residents), comprehensive health services, and county-wide library system. Coffey County is proud to be home to the only nuclear power generating station in Kansas. Rolling farmlands throughout the county showcase our agricultural base, and the towering wind turbines in the north part of the county can be seen for miles.
