Jail InformationDirections to the Jail South on 75 Hwy from I-35 Hwy to Neosho Street in Burlington, then right on Neosho Street to stop sign (6th Street) to behind the courthouse, come to Sheriff Office Door. North on 75 Hwy from Yates Center, to Neosho Street in Burlington, then left on Neosho Street to stop sign (6th Street) to behind the courthouse, come to the Sheriff Office Door. Mailing Address 605 Neosho Street Phone Number Office (620) 364-3199 Visitation Visitation at the Coffey County Jail is held on Sundays from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Each inmate is allowed only 20 minutes of visitation per week. If you are driving from a long distance a request of additional time must be addressed to the Lead Jail Officer prior to Visitation Day. Anyone wishing to visit may do so as long as the inmate consents to the visit. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Be prepared to give your ID if requested. Any one not having a ID will notbe allowed to visit. Approved Items The only item inmates may receive at the Jail is cash unless prior approval from the Lead Jail Officer or Sheriff is obtained. Inmates must have at least $10.00 in their account before purchasing items from the commissary. Jail Life Inmates are furnished with Jail Uniforms and associated clothing, bedding and hygiene items. Only in special cases are inmates allowed to keep their own clothing in their cell. Jailers do periodic checks on the inmates to ensure no problems exist. They feed the inmates three times a day. They take the inmates to the exercise room which consists of book carts, a television and a picnic type table. When necessary, the Jailers take the inmates to the doctor or dentist. Jailers escort the inmates to court when required. The Jail is staffed 24 hours per day, seven days a week. When a prisoner is brought to the Jail they are processed. If the charges are bondable, they are given the opportunity to do so before being placed in population. If they are charged with a felony, they are held in Jail until they have the opportunity to see the judge unless a bond has been previously set. |
