Volunteers: ReservesThe reserve program is a non-profit organization consisting of a group of non-paid community volunteers that assist the Sheriff's Office. They assist the Sheriff's Office with patrol duties through ride-along, town checks, lake patrol, special-events security and other duties deemed necessary by the Sheriff. A prospective reserve officer must meet the same criteria and go through the same hiring process as a regular officer. After being accepted into the program, a reserve officer must complete all in-house training, work a minimum of 16 hours per month and attend monthly meetings. The reserve program operates from funds received from fund raising projects. The Sheriff's Office is constantly seeking dedicated Individuals that are highly motivated and are interested in contributing to their community. If you are looking for volunteer work that is challenging contact the Coffey County Sheriff's Office and obtain an application to become a reserve. You can direct any questions that you may have to Undersheriff Kenneth Roney at 620-364-2123. See the Bulletin Board for current Reserve activities. |
