Community Education Programs
The Coffey County Sheriff's Office offers a varied list of classes and programs to organizations, churches, and our schools. We understand that information and education are the keys to understanding and that an informed public is our best resource for problem solving.
Some activities and programs Deputy Nelson L. Fink has been involved in over the past year and a half include:
Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs
After receiving training in this program as an instructor, the Deputy was able to present the program's benefits to the Sheriff and we received a grant to start a Coffey County Chapter. HOFNOD has had several outings involving many Coffey County youth and their parents, promoting environmental awareness and more importantly, giving the kids information on an activity that builds self-esteem and is self-rewarding - two qualities that help to discourage drug use. If you would like to become involved contact Deputy Fink at NFink@coffeycountyks.org.

Polaroid KidCare and IdentaKid
These two programs are used together, free of charge to participants, to assist parents in keeping useful information about their kids should the need arise. Participants are provided with either the Polaroid KidCare packet, which includes a photo and pamphlet in a protective sleeve, or a card with fingerprints and useful information stored on the card. The Coffey County Sheriff's Office has been very successful with this program, having enrolled hundreds of kids already. If interested in these programs for your children, please contact us or e-mail Deputy Fink at NFink@coffeycountyks.org.
