Noxious Weeds
Noxious weeds cost more to keep, than treat! Noxious weeds left untreated in Coffey County cost farmers hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. Generally producers can expect three dollars return for every dollar spent.
The Kansas Legislature has declared 12 weeds noxious:
- Bur Ragweed
- Canada Thistle
- Field Bindweed
- Hoary Cress
- Johnsongrass
- Kudzu
- Leafy Spurge
- Musk Thistle
- Pignut
- Quackgrass
- Russian Knapweed
- Sericea Lespedeza
And 2 weeds that may be declared noxious by the Coffey County Commissioners:
- Bull Thistle
- Multiflora Rose
There are four Noxious Weeds found in Coffey County:
- Field Bindweed
- Johnsongrass
- Musk Thistle
- Sericea Lespedza
Chemicals may be purchased from the Noxious Weed Department to treat noxious weeds in Coffey County on a cost-share basis. Coffey County purchases chemicals at wholesale and then absorbs 25% to 50% of the cost. Chemicals may be purchased for noxious weeds in Coffey County Only.
We are sorry but we are unable to sell chemicals for trees and brush.
