    • Control the spread of disease through medical countermeasures, social distancing, and public information
  • Medical Countermeasures Dispensing Plan
    • Plans for the dispensing of medications or vaccinations in response to an infectious disease
  • Biological Incident
    • Respond to threats of bioterrorism as it relates to the health of people, animals and the environment
  • Mass Care/ Shelter
    • Hosting a large number of residents due to power outage, weather, or disaster   
  • Public Information
    • Notification to the public in advance of or during an emergency
    • Iris e-notification for emergencies
      • Instant notification via text, call or email for Coffey County residents


  • Bringing partners together through meetings, exercise, training, and planning
  • Member of Northeast Kansas Healthcare Coalition, East Central Kansas Public Health Coalition, and Coffey County Local Emergency Planning Committee


  • Measuring Coffey County's ability to respond to public health emergencies through exercise
  • Disease Containment Exercises    
    • Annually tested with Drive-thru Flu Vaccine clinics in partnership with Coffey Health System & EMS, Burlington Police Department, Coffey County Sheriff's office
  • Mass Care & Sheltering Exercise
    • In partnership with East Central Kansas Public Health Coalition and Local Emergency Planning Committees to prepare for the event of hosting a shelter for community members
  • Mental Health First Aid classes
    • Prepare responders for assisting with mental health needs during a catastrophic event
